5-Year Pledge and Bequest Supports Laity Lodge Speakers' Fund
Lucy Ross enthusiastically sings the praises of the H. E. Butt Foundation and believes so strongly in the powerful programs she has experienced that she wants to ensure that future generations continue meeting God in this grace-filled holy place.
"It has been a privilege to support the Foundation for many years. However, the past Comprehensive Campaign encouraged me to focus on estate planning that led me to make a five-year pledge to the Laity Lodge Speakers' Fund and a bequest in my will," Lucy says.
A fourth-generation Austinite and Longhorn sports junkie, Lucy is a graduate of the University of Texas. She is now retired after more than 20 years as a veteran realtor and is engaged in volunteer leadership with the Foundation.
"Lucy has been an outstanding friend to the Foundation. Her strong faith, strategic wisdom, and significant generosity have inspired and encouraged us.We're so grateful she was drawn to us nearly three decades ago when she attended her first Laity Lodge retreat," says David Rogers, President of the H. E. Butt Foundation.
Lucy was instrumental in helping to establish the Speakers' Fund, which brings the world's finest biblical and human relationship experts to Laity Lodge retreats."The Speakers' Fund gives lay people, church leadership, and business leaders access to the thinking of some of today's giants of the faith in a setting that encourages dialogue, contemplation, healing, and fun," Lucy explains.
"I always leave the Frio Canyon refreshed and blessed, my faith enlarged in some new way, and I hope this legacy enriches others' lives as mine has been by my predecessors' gifts," she says. "I'm confident that the Butt family's vision will continue to be honored after I'm gone."
