Warner Family Honors Camp Memories With Gift
Some of Cissy Warner's favorite childhood memories took place at Laity Lodge Youth Camp (LLYC).
"It was magical there," she says.
Cissy remembers forming strong bonds with her three siblings, friends and counselors. When she started sending her two children to LLYC, Cissy found it surprisingly bittersweet.
"I remember being very sentimental," she says. "I was leaving my children at the best place on the planet, but I was never going to get to go back the same way."
It was a tough realization, and yet, it also gave Cissy an opportunity to touch the next generation. Cissy and her husband, Mark, have made a gift in their estate plan to positively impact the various camps, retreats and other programs of the H. E. Butt Foundation.
"Making a gift was very natural for us," Cissy shares. "It's such a clear expression of Christ's ministry to us and the way we see our continued ministry."
David Rogers, President and CEO, thanks the Warners for their lifelong dedication to camp.
"Cissy and her family have deep roots here; it's why their support now and the provision they have made through their will means so much to us," he says. "It's like getting a gift from a family member."
Giving to camp is a way to honor the past and set a foundation for the future.
"It's the ultimate trust," Cissy says. "I'm happy to be able to pay it back by looking forward."
